Mrs. & Mr. Samraj were keen towards preaching the Gospel until 1987 December, when he received God's call for church planting. And was specific through this verse:
“Consider now for the Lord has chosen you to build a temple as a sanctuary. Be strong and do the work” - 1 Chronicles 28: 9,10. 

As a mustard seed grows into a huge tree, God, in the same way has enabled ODM to expand under His guidance.

The First Decade:
A place full of small cone shaped huts, with a drainage canal along the sideway, streams of polluted and fowl water flowing by, people without much civilization, without hygienic conditions, living in utter poverty, earning their livelihood with great struggles. Amidst this hopelessness, Past. Samraj and his wife sang “O God is good..O God is good..” and shared the love of Jesus to them. This was their first mission field.

Open Door Ministries began in the slums of Gandhinagar, Arundhathi Nagar, Rasulpura etc., For a decade Mrs. & Mr. Samraj ministered the Lord there by preaching the gospel, strengthening the believers, baptising them in rivers like Hussainsagar, Gandipet, etc. Thus, believers were added to the church. They grew in number and in faith.

Challenges Faced: 
Since there was no definite place for worship, the small group faced many trials in shifting from one place to another, moving from schools, to houses etc. Finally a small thatched shed was erected beside the dirty canal of Arundhati Nagar Slum. All the believers were so happy about the achievement, but one afternoon a notorious group sprung up and destroyed the church. There was confusion and chaos in the congregation but the LORD protected the church and preserved it until today. This congregation gathers at ACTC, Gandhinagar every Sunday.

In the year 1995, just as the pastor prayed for a pioneering work -  the LORD directed Past. Samraj to an unknown barren land - Alwal. By faith, the church was started with very few members. In a short span of time, we were able to see a great harvest. Nearly 4 times the church was extended. God established Jerusalem Central Church - Alwal as the base for all ministry activities.
